YouTube is Finally Introducing Social Viewing on Quest - Road to VR

YouTube is Finally Set to Get Social Viewing on Quest

Nearly two years ago, Meta announced a feature for its Quest VR platform's Horizon Home that promised the ability to watch YouTube videos collectively—a highly desired capability in VR. While the excitement was initially high, the feature never actually launched. Now, Meta has confirmed that social viewing for YouTube is finally ready. Previously, watching YouTube together in VR required cumbersome steps like downloading additional apps. The new feature will allow users to initiate co-watching sessions directly from the YouTube VR app, enabling others to join and watch the same content in Horizon Home. Although the exact number of participants per session is unclear, the feature is expected to support both standard YouTube videos and immersive 180 and 360 VR content. The rollout is set to begin next week. For the full story, visit Road to VR.
