Xiaomi Reportedly Partners with Goertek to Chase Success of Ray-Ban Meta Smartglasses
Xiaomi, renowned for its diverse product range, is reportedly developing AI-assisted smartglasses to compete with Ray-Ban Meta, according to a report from Chinese media outlet 36kr. The new device, created in collaboration with Goertek, a Chinese ODM, is expected to feature AI functions, integrated speakers, and camera modules. Although Ray-Ban Meta smartglasses aren't available in China, Xiaomi's version is anticipated to launch in Q2 2025, potentially coinciding with the Mi Fan Festival in April. Xiaomi co-founder Lei Jun aims to ship over 300,000 units. This development marks a significant step for Xiaomi in the smartglasses market, following its previous experimentation with XR hardware. The Chinese smartglasses market is set to expand in the coming years, with major brands like Baidu, OPPO, vivo, Huawei, Tencent, and ByteDance also exploring their options.
