VisionOS 2 Aims to Address Major Developer Critiques of Vision Pro - Road to VR

VisionOS 2 Improvement Targets Key Vision Pro Critique Among Developers

For basic interactions like navigating apps and scrolling web pages, the Vision Pro headset’s look-and-pinch input system is impressive. However, its full hand-tracking functionality has higher latency compared to devices like Quest 3, making virtual objects seem delayed during hands-on interactions.

Upcoming updates in VisionOS 2 aim to address this issue. Apple announced at WWDC 2024 that the headset will now report hand positions at 90Hz instead of 30Hz, reducing latency by up to 22ms. Additionally, VisionOS 2 will offer hand-tracking prediction to minimize perceived latency during faster movements.
