Volumetric 6DoF Content Platform Gracia Gets Quest 3 App Lab Release & Resolution Boost

Gracia is now available on Quest's App Lab

What is Gracia?

Gracia offers a truly volumetric 6DoF VR experience, going beyond simple 3D photos and videos by allowing users to move their heads or even walk through photorealistic VR scenes captured from the real world. This is made possible through Gaussian splatting, a cutting-edge technique for rendering 3D volumes. Currently available for Quest 3 and PC VR, Gracia delivers immersive still images and plans to support short videos later this year. Since its initial launch on Steam for PC VR in June, the platform can now be officially accessed on Quest 3 via App Lab, boasting a 50% resolution increase over the earlier sideloadable version.

The Quest 3 version offers six volumetric still captures, including:

  • Embyro Of The Future: A human art installation.
  • Cyclical Existence: An outdoor scene with dried flora.
  • Food Collection: Dishes from New York and California.
  • Construct of Play: An indoor scene with a Lego excavator.
  • Reclamation: An aged tree stump covered in ivy.
  • Transience In Bloom: A cherry blossom tree indoors.

While the app supports hand tracking, controllers are required to download and launch scenes. Gracia provides a captivating glimpse into the future of VR, despite some blurriness, where reliving memories as if you were there is becoming increasingly possible.
