Quest v71 Seems Set To Bring Passthrough Cutout For Any Keyboard The Headset Sees
In the Public Test Channel (PTC) build of Quest v71, Meta has introduced a feature that enables passthrough cutouts for any visible keyboard while you're in your virtual home, regardless of its connection to the headset. This expands on the previous limited functionality that only supported a select number of connected keyboards. The PTC, Meta Quest's beta release channel, provides users with early versions of Horizon OS, which may differ from the eventual stable release. This update allows for the virtual rendering of any keyboard within view, showing it as a passthrough cutout when your hands are near, and as a white rectangle when they aren't. This new feature, termed Keyboard Tracking, is similar to Apple’s Keyboard Breakthrough in visionOS 2 but is more versatile by supporting non-connected keyboards.
