Snap Unveils Upgraded AR Spectacles For Developers, Priced $100/Month
Snapchat's parent company has unveiled its fifth-generation Spectacles, featuring significant upgrades such as a wider 46-degree field of view, enhanced battery life, and a more powerful processor. Unlike previous generations, these new Spectacles include LCoS displays for AR, automatic tinting lenses, and a dual Snapdragon processor setup for improved performance and thermal dissipation. Now available to any developer for $99/month, the Spectacles promise an angular resolution similar to Apple Vision Pro and a motion-to-photon latency of 13 milliseconds. Despite their advanced capabilities, the glasses are heavier and bulkier than earlier models, weighing 226 grams. They do not support first-person photo and video capture outside of apps or audio streaming.
