Report: Sony Hesitates on PSVR 2 Game Development - Road to VR
Report: Sony Balks on PSVR 2 Game Development
Sony is set to introduce tethered PC VR support for PSVR 2 this summer, which might mark one of the final significant updates for the headset. According to a report by Android Central's Nicholas Sutrich, Sony seems to be pulling back on its budget for first-party VR content, with limited opportunities for future VR game development. Allegedly, only two PSVR 2 games are currently being developed in-house.
Despite a promising lineup of third-party games like Skydance's "Behemoth" and "Zombie Army VR," Sony has not announced any new first-party titles since the headset's launch in February 2023. In comparison to its aggressive first-party content strategy during the PSVR era, Sony now appears to be shifting focus, as evidenced by layoffs and studio reductions earlier this year.
