Oculus Rift Creator Palmer Luckey is Developing a New XR Headset
Palmer Luckey, the founder of Oculus and the original mind behind the Oculus Rift, hinted at a forthcoming announcement about a new XR headset he's developing. Luckey plans to reveal more details at the Augmented World Expo (AWE) in Long Beach, California from June 18-20. While specifics about the device remain under wraps, it is confirmed to be a VR headset "and more," although it won't be unveiled for some time to prevent leaks.
This announcement comes as Luckey explores new ventures, including a recent Game Boy-inspired handheld device. Given his current role at defense tech company Anduril Industries, which develops XR software for the battlefield, the new headset could also be aimed at military applications.
