Meta Appears to be Readying a Quest 3 Charging Dock to Streamline Usage

A new charging dock from Meta has been revealed through regulatory certification, indicating that it is likely for the upcoming Quest 3 VR headset. The dock aims to streamline headset usage by keeping it charged and always up-to-date. This is in response to the common issue of users forgetting to charge their headsets, resulting in dead batteries and necessary updates. The dock, which charges both the headset and controllers, was first introduced with the Quest Pro headset. The FCC certification documentation for the new dock confirms that it includes wireless charging function for the controllers. This change from the previous Quest Pro dock, which relied on direct-contact charging, may be due to the awkwardness of docking the controllers properly. It is not yet known whether the dock will be included with the Quest 3 or be sold separately, but it could potentially be an important accessory for the overall user experience. If included, it would be the first time Meta includes rechargeable controllers with its consumer VR headsets. However, the Quest 3 dock will likely not be compatible with the Quest 2 controllers.
