Meta Now Lets You Manually Update Your Quest System Software Via PC Or Android

Meta has introduced a new web tool allowing users to manually update their Quest headset to the latest system software version. Normally, Quest updates are rolled out gradually over several days or weeks. The Meta Quest Software Update Tool, accessible via a webpage and utilizing the WebUSB API, can sideload the latest update directly to your USB-connected Quest headset. It supports various operating systems, including Windows, Mac, Linux, ChromeOS, and Android, but is not compatible with iPhones or iPads. Mac users must use a browser other than Safari.

To use the tool, you need to sign in to Meta.com with the site region set to 'United States.' The tool will guide you through the process of entering Sideload Update mode on your headset. This update process will not reset your headset or affect your apps, files, and data.

Do note, while this tool updates your headset to the latest software version, it does not include all new features, which are rolled out dynamically by Meta's servers. For more details and instructions, visit the source at UploadVR.
