Less Expensive Apple Vision Headsets May Utilize Standard OLED to Significantly Lower Costs - UploadVR

Cheaper Apple Vision Headsets Might Use Regular OLED To Achieve Much Lower Prices

Apple is casting a wider net for display suppliers to produce future, more affordable Vision headsets, shifting from the current, costly micro-OLED technology. Initially, Apple's Vision Pro headsets use high-resolution micro-OLED displays from Sony, but the expense and manufacturing challenges have led Apple to explore alternatives from Chinese suppliers SeeYa and BOE, though they faced quality issues. Recent reports indicate Apple is now considering micro-OLED displays from LG and Samsung, as well as regular OLED panels from Japan's JDI, albeit with potential drawbacks in pixel density and screen quality.

Apple has purportedly put work on a high-end Vision Pro successor on hold to focus on launching a cheaper version by 2025.
