Microsoft Releases Initial Azure Cloud Rendering Support for Quest 2 & Quest Pro

Microsoft has released a public preview of Azure Remote Rendering support for Meta Quest 2 and Quest Pro, enabling developers to remotely render complex 3D content in the cloud and stream it to those VR headsets in real-time. The Azure Remote Rendering platform supports desktop and HoloLens 2, and uses a hybrid rendering approach to combine remotely rendered content with locally rendered content. Developers can integrate the Microsoft Azure cloud rendering capabilities with their projects to view large and complex models on Quest. One developer, Fracture Reality, has already integrated the platform into its JoinXR platform to enhance its CAD review and workflows for engineering clients. Microsoft's move offers hopeful signs for VR in enterprise. A step-by-step guide on how to integrate Azure's cloud rendering tech is available on the company's website.
