Hands-On with Chernobyl Again: Captivating Story Marred by Clunky Menus - UploadVR
Chernobyl Again Hands-On: Interesting Story Hindered By Finicky Menus
I originally applied to university to study mechanical and nuclear engineering, so my interest was piqued when I was invited to preview the VR game “Chernobyl Again” at Gamescom. The game offers an intriguing premise: players go back in time to prevent the Chernobyl disaster as the child of notable nuclear physicists. However, the experience is hindered by a clunky inventory system and interaction issues.
Players must navigate significant hurdles, such as a cumbersome menu system stored in a sci-fi watch and finicky controls that make managing the game's numerous puzzles and tasks frustrating. Despite its potential and engaging storyline, the game’s environments, especially the black hole backdrop and reactor console, feel lackluster and static.
