Hands-On Experience: Barely Functional Visor Showcased in Immersive Demos Following Official Design Reveal - UploadVR
Hands-On: Immersed Demos Barely Functional Visor After Finally Unveiling Its Real Design
Immersed's Visor project is touted as a revolutionary tool for remote work but faces criticism from some who claim it's a scam. I attended a demo event in Texas with travel costs covered by Immersed, though this won't influence my impressions. Immersed, known for its app that extends PC monitors into a VR space, is launching the lightweight Visor headset, optimized for remote work with features like the XR2+ Gen 2 chipset, 4K micro-OLED displays, and advanced tracking.
However, the event revealed some issues. The demo was disorganized, security was tight, and the final design was unveiled only just before the demo. Notably, Immersed's founder, Renji Bijoy, admitted the initial Oakley-like design was more of a marketing strategy and confirmed the need for a more practical head strap for prolonged use. Furthermore, the downpayment for Visor is increasing from $400 to $500 starting in October, along with a mandatory subscription fee.
