First Impressions: 'Attack on Titan VR' Shows Potential but Needs Refinement - Road to VR

Hands-on: ‘Attack on Titan VR’ Could Be a Diamond in the Rough — Emphasis on Rough

"Attack on Titan VR: Unbreakable" has arrived, marking the anime's debut in virtual reality through an early access release. Although the initial trailer from developer UNIVRS appeared rough, the game introduces fun mechanics that hold promise. Currently, it feels more like a tech demo, offering one mission, a few unlockable blades, and about 30 minutes of replayable content. The tutorial is somewhat disjointed, and gameplay involves using omni-directional mobility gear to combat Titans by slicing their limbs and necks. While swinging around the city is exciting, the game needs to improve Titan interactions, visuals, and AI pathfinding to maintain long-term appeal. The experience is comfortable despite frenetic movement, and the diegetic UI adds immersive touches. However, visuals are lacking, and stability issues are present. Whether it's worth the $5 entry price remains uncertain, especially with the planned two-player co-op mode still in development. For more details, visit Road to VR.
