Any Quest Mixed Reality App Can Now Disable The Annoying Boundary

Mixed reality apps on Quest can now disable the bothersome VR-centric safety boundary. While useful in virtual reality to prevent users from bumping into obstacles, the boundary isn't necessary in mixed reality, where users can see their surroundings, and it limits the available play space. Initially, only select whitelisted developers could disable this boundary with the v57 of the Meta XR Core SDK. However, with the release of v66, any developer can now do so, although the boundary will still be necessary in fully immersive VR for safety reasons. It's worth noting that attempting to trick the system by rendering a small passthrough might work but would reduce performance. Additionally, leaked footage before the launch of Quest 3 hinted at a potential new system replacing the boundary, but that hasn't materialized yet. For a complete story, visit UploadVR.
