7 Features We’d Love to See in Vision Pro’s First Major Software Update
The Vision Pro headset by Apple showcases impressive capabilities but isn't without its initial flaws. Fortunately, Apple's history of enhancing products through software updates brings hope for future improvements. As Apple announced Vision Pro on June 5th, 2023, during their WWDC event, it is anticipated that at WWDC 2024, held on June 10th, the company will reveal the first major software update for Vision Pro's VisionOS operating system. Based on several months of use, we have compiled a wishlist of features we hope to see in VisionOS 2.0, focusing primarily on enhanced window management.
-
Window Management: The ability to create and manipulate virtual windows is remarkable, but the current system lacks efficient management, often leading to overlapping and inaccessible windows. Key desired features include:
- Pinning: Fixing windows in place so they remain steady even when the device is re-centered.
- Following: Implementing a ‘follow’ mode where windows can hover near the user, adjusting their position when the user moves.
- Presets & Groups: Allowing users to save and quickly recall common window arrangements, and group windows to move them as a unit.
-
App Flow: To address the clutter from multiple app windows, an ‘App Flow’ feature could consolidate multiple apps into a single window, allowing users to swipe between them efficiently.
